North East Region Information
Stretching from the tip of Derbyshire, right up to the Scottish border, our region is diverse and interesting. From large industrial centres to rolling countryside, culturally diverse and booming cities to small, rural hamlets, rocky coastlines to quiet beaches, the North East presents a challenge for all our officers, who are charged with protecting this precious environment for present and future generations.
We work closely with industry in areas such as Teesside to monitor emissions and bring about continuing improvements. Fisheries officers monitor fish populations and work hard with other Agency departments to help clean up the region's rivers. Flood warning and flood defence teams are continually striving to improve the warning service and bring about improved protection for communities at risk of flooding.
